A convicted felon who was on parole and out on bail for an assault with a deadly weapon charge is behind bars again Monday following a traffic stop by a Riverside police officer.

A patrol officer saw a vehicle driven recklessly on the wrong side of the road Friday afternoon near Lincoln Avenue and Adams Street and attempted a traffic stop, according to a statement by the Riverside Police Department.

The driver failed to yield to the officer’s red lights and siren and drove into a nearby neighborhood where he crashed the vehicle into a block wall, police said. The driver was eventually taken into custody.

The driver was identified as 34-year-old Jeffrey Guillen of Moreno Valley, a convicted felon on parole, police said. Officers found him in possession of suspected methamphetamine, a drug pipe and two handguns. He was booked for suspicion of various weapons and drug charges, resisting arrest, and parole violations.

Guillen was held without bail at the Southwest Detention Center, according to Riverside County sheriff’s inmate records.
