College of the Desert officials Monday will embark on a “listening tour” in an effort to amplify community voices about accessibility, environment and programming at its college campuses.

College of the Desert Interim President and Superintendent Laura Hope will get the tour underway at 5 p.m. Monday in the college’s campus in Thermal, located at 61120 Buchanan St. The tour sessions will offer attendees an opportunity to voice their opinions and to contribute to campus culture.

“We want to give space to hear all our students, faculty, staff and others discuss their challenges and triumphs here at College of the Desert,” Hope said. “You are entitled to your dreams, and we are here to work together toward making them a reality.”

The series of community engagement sessions are part of a new era of transparency and collaboration at the college which Hope has prioritized, according to college officials. Each session will feature an open-forum discussion and update from Hope.

Attendees were encouraged to prepare questions and comments that make sure their community needs are met.

The sessions will continue Wednesday at the college’s Desert Hot Springs campus and will include two sessions each month until December, college officials said.
