The 30th annual Palm Springs Open tennis tournament will get underway Friday with play at four venues in the Coachella Valley.
The free tournament will begin with matches at Mission Hills Country Club and Sunrise Country Club in Rancho Mirage, the Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert and Indian Wells Tennis Gardens in Indian Wells, according to DTA officials. It will conclude Sunday at Mission Hills Country Club.
Play will start at 8 a.m. each day.
An after-party will be held Friday and Saturday nights at Chill Bar, 217 East Arenas Road, where the Player Welcome Party was held Thursday.
A Player’s Party hosted by Bella da Ball will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Reforma, 333 S. Palm Canyon Drive, Unit 2, according to the Desert Tennis Association. The event will feature a silent auction and raffle benefiting AAP — Food Samaritans, which provides nutritional support to improve the quality of the life for low-income people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses throughout the Coachella Valley.
The Palm Springs Open attracts more than 300 LGBT players worldwide and raises funds for local charities.
