The streak of decreases to the average price of a gallon of self-service regular gasoline in Riverside County was extended Friday to six days, but barely, as it dropped one-tenth of a cent to $4.303, its lowest amount since Dec. 28, 2022.
The average price has dropped 3.2 cents over the past six days, including 1.2 cents Thursday, after remaining unchanged over the previous three days, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 3.2 cents less than one week ago, 6.1 cents lower than one month ago and 40.2 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.07 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
While “it’s hard to say how much lower they will drop” Southern California “gas prices often decrease during” December, said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The national average price decreased for the ninth consecutive day, dropping six-tenths of a cent to $3.026. It has decreased 4.7 cents over the past nine days, including one-tenth of a cent Thursday, after back-to-back increases totaling 1.7 cents.
The national average price is 3.7 cents less than one week ago, 8.1 cents lower than one month ago and 19 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.99 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
