The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Sunday for the 10th time in 11 days, increasing 2.2 cents to $4.224.
The average price has increased 10.1 cents over the past 11 days, including 2.5 cents both Friday and Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose six consecutive days, dropped one-tenth of a cent Wednesday and resumed rising Thursday.
The average price is 8.6 cents more than one week ago and 6 cents higher than one month ago, but 16.4 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.149 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The four-day streak of decreases to the national average price totaling 1.8 cents ended Sunday when it was unchanged, remaining at $2.87. It is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 3.7 cents higher than one month ago but 23.2 cents less than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $2.146 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“The winter storm that wreaked havoc on most of the nation has led to supply disruptions and pushed up the national average” price, according to the AAA.
“Below-freezing temperatures and lingering snow have disrupted some crude production and refinery operations, while gasoline demand increased pre-storm as drivers filled up their tanks ahead of the severe winter weather.”
