Palm Springs residents have until midnight to complete an online survey seeking public input on the qualities, values and priorities the city should consider in selecting its next police chief.
“The Palm Springs Police Chief Community Survey is an important part of the recruitment and selection process. The feedback will help identify the leadership qualities, values and priorities that residents, businesses, employees and visitors believe are most important in the next police chief,” a city spokesperson said in a statement.
Community members have until midnight Friday to complete the anonymous survey, which is available in English and Spanish and takes about 10 minutes to complete, officials said.
City officials said no date has been set to fill the position.
Police Chief Andy Mills will retire Sept. 5 after serving 13 years in the position. He and his wife, Cathy, plan to move to the Sacramento area to be closer to his mother.
The survey is available on the city’s Engage Palm Springs website at engagepalmsprings.com under Palm Springs Police Chief Community Survey.
