The Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct UCLA Night at tonight’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, with UCLA students, alumni and fans invited to wear blue and gold to Dodger Stadium.
Eric Karros, the 1992 National League Rookie of the Year and one of seven UCLA alumni to have played for the Dodgers, will throw the ceremonial first pitch. Joanna Alexis Jones, a 2012 UCLA graduate, will sing the national anthem.
The Dodgers offered a special ticket package for the game, consisting of a ticket in the infield reserve section or all-you-can-eat right field pavilion and a T-shirt in UCLA blue with the Dodgers’ familiar LA logo in gold. That package is sold out.
A fireworks show set to Top 40 music will follow the game. Fans will be invited onto to the field to watch the show, which will take place before 11 p.m. and is subject to cancellation if the game lasts too long.
Pregame entertainment will also include a strolling magician in the left field plaza and a DJ in the right field plaza, both from 5-7 p.m.
Tommy Davis, the 1962 and 1963 National League batting champion, will sign autographs in the left field pavilion from 5-7 p.m.
The Military Hero of the Game will be U.S. Army Capt. Joel Perez of Los Angeles, who has had four foreign deployments.
Perez was deployed to Iraq twice as the non-commissioned officer in charge of the 975th Movement Control Team and to Kuwait in 2012 as the transportation officer-in-charge of the 420th Movement Control Battalion. He is now stationed in Afghanistan as an adviser to Afghan police for the NATO Special Operations Component Command.
Auto gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and stadium gates at 5 p.m. Pregame ceremonies will begin at 6:55 p.m. for the 7:10 p.m. game.
