University of Southern California Athletic Director Pat Haden is reportedly fine after falling ill at Saturday’s USC-Notre Dame game in South Bend, Ind.
“Thanks for all the support. I checked out fine and am feeling great today!” Haden tweeted. “Proud of our effort vs ND, came up just short. Beat the Utes!”
Haden fell to one knee on the sideline moments before Saturday’s kickoff and had to be helped to the locker room. He was looked at by team doctors after reportedly feeling light-headed.
ESPN reported Sunday that Haden was treated briefly at an Indiana hospital before flying back to Los Angeles pn Saturday night aboard a private plane.
It’s been a tough week for the 62-year-old Haden, who had to fire coach Steve Sarkisian on after Sarkisian reportedly showed up to a practice inebriated. The coach had earlier appeared intoxicated at a preseason booster event, which he attributed to mixing alcohol with prescription medication.
Haden, who was criticized for his handling of the Sarkisian situation, named Trojans offensive coordinator Clay Helton the team’s interim head coach.
The Trojans lost to the Irish, 41-31, on Saturday to fall to 3-3 on the season.
