The executive board of the International Olympic Committee is scheduled to meet Friday in Lausanne, Switzerland, and is expected to discuss the option of awarding host-city duties for both the 2024 and 2028 Summer Games at the same time.

Los Angeles and Paris are the only two cities left vying for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, and the IOC is set to pick the winner in September, but among the agenda items for the Lausanne meeting is the option of awarding both the 2024 and 2028 Games at the same time in September.

Although there has been no official confirmation, various reports have indicated the IOC is leaning toward awarding Paris the ’24 Games and Los Angeles the ’28 Games.

LA 2024 Chairman Casey Wasserman released a statement Wednesday that appeared to concede the ’24 Games, although he stopped just short of doing so.

“To be blunt, LA 2024 has never been only about L.A. or 2024. Even when the issue of a dual award for the 2024 and 2028 Games was initially raised, we didn’t say it’s `L.A. first’ or it’s `now or never’ for L.A. That sounds like an ultimatum,” Wasserman said.
