The 1993 coming-of-age baseball film “The Sandlot” will be shown after Saturday evening’s Los Angeles Dodgers-San Francisco Giants game at Dodger Stadium.
The first pitch will be thrown by the film’s director and co-writer David Mickey Evans and cast members Brandon Adams, Shane Obedzinski, Marty York, Victor DiMattia, Grant Gelt, Tom Guiry, Patrick Renna and Chauncey Leopardi.
U.S. Air Force Capt. Matthew Alexander of Oak Park will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game.
Alexander is a 2010 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy where he was a first-team All-America selection as a designated hitter by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in 2009.
Alexander has flown 83 combat missions, totaling 360 combat hours in Afghanistan and flown in NATO peace-keeping missions in Poland, Portugal and Norway.
Alexander has totaled over 1,200 flying hours. He is an F-16 instructor pilot at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.
