The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the third consecutive day following a run of seven increases in eight days totaling 3.5 cents, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.724.

The average price has dropped 1.7 cents over the past three days, including three-tenths of a cent Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago but 14.5 cents more than one month ago and 15.4 cents higher than one year ago.

The average price has dropped $1.769 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the seventh time in eight days, decreasing a half-cent to $4.695. It has dropped 2.1 cents over the past eight days, including three-tenths of a cent Wednesday.

The run of decreases follows 27 increases in 28 days totaling 27.4 cents that boosted the Orange County average price to its highest amount since May 24.

The Orange County average price is 1.6 cents less than one week ago but 14.3 cents more than one month ago and 19.6 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.763 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the sixth time in seven days, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $3.157. It has dropped 4.6 cents over the past seven days, including eight-tenths of a cent Wednesday. The national average price decreased three consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Monday then resumed dropping Tuesday.

The national average price is four-tenths of a cent less than one month ago and 5.6 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.859 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
