The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County resumed decreasing Tuesday, dropping 1.3 cents to $4.665, one day after a run of 11 decreases in 12 days totaling 5.2 cents ended with an increase of one-tenth of a cent.

The average price is 4.4 cents less than one week ago and 7.1 cents lower than one month ago but 8.6 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has decreased $1.828 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price also resumed decreasing, dropping 2 cents to $4.622, one day after a six-day streak of decreases totaling 4.4 cents ended when it was unchanged. It is 5.1 cents less than one week ago and 8.5 cents lower than one month ago but 12.1 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.836 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose for the second consecutive day following a run of 17 decreases in 18 days totaling 12.4 cents, increasing 1.1 cents to $3.047. It is 2.9 cents less than one week ago, 13.6 cents lower than one month ago and 12.8 cents below what it was one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.969 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“Thirty-five states have average gas prices below $2.99 per gallon and GasBuddy even recorded the first $1.99 cash price at a station in Evans, Colorado, with stations in Oklahoma and Texas not far behind,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations, said in a statement released Monday.

“Barring any major disruptions, gas prices are likely to remain slightly below year-ago levels and could stay under $3 for much of the next few months.”
