Local artists with mental health diagnoses will showcase their works in Indio Tuesday during the 16th annual John J. Benoit Desert Mental Health Arts Festival Art Show & Creative Writing Contest.
The show takes place from noon to 3 p.m. in the Taj Mahal Building of the Riverside County Fairgrounds. Attendance is free and open to the public.
Paintings, drawings, sculptures, and jewelry will be on display and in some cases, available for purchase. Prizes are awarded for the top artwork and creative writing entries.
Vendors who assist the county’s Behavioral Health Department will also be on hand to answer questions regarding mental health and substance abuse issues.
The showcase is part of Mental Health Month, which will also be observed in the county with a May 25 health and wellness resource fair at Fairmount Park in Riverside.
