The Skyline Fire south of Corona was 80 percent contained Sunday, as hundreds of firefighters for a fourth day battled a blaze that had at one time threatened homes and prompted evacuation orders.

Firefighters expected to remain for the next several days improving lines of cleared vegetation around the blaze and putting out hot spots, officials said.

No one was hurt, and all evacuation orders were lifted Friday.

The fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday in the area of Skyline Drive and Burrero Way, at the foot of the Cleveland National Forest, according to authorities. The acreage consumed by the fire has not grown since Thursday night.

An evacuation order that went into effect two hours later. However, most evacuees were permitted to return to their properties by about 10 p.m. Thursday.

By Friday morning, the order only applied to nearly 50 homes in the Mabey Canyon and Orchard Glen communities. Public safety officials announced Friday afternoon that all residents could return

Fire officials said that the Tin Mine and Skyline trails were closed until further notice due to firefighting activity in those areas.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
