Keeping up a tradition that began over a century ago, hundreds of worshipers Sunday will trek to the crest of Mount Rubidoux in Riverside to celebrate Easter during a sunrise service.
The Mount Rubidoux Cross will be the destination of the faithful, who will be led in a non-denominational observance by Pastor Brian Park.
During last year’s service, nearly 2,000 people made the trip up to the 1,300-foot peak, where Biblical parables were shared, along with singing.
The paved trail to the top runs roughly three miles, and attendees are always encouraged to dress in appropriate footwear and attire.
The Easter Sunrise Service began in 1909, always attracting large crowds, according to organizers.
