A fast-moving brush fire that broke out late Tuesday afternoon near the late Bob Hope’s former home in Palm Springs charred at least 100 acres by early evening.

The Palm Springs Fire Department reported that the blaze broke out in the hills south of Toledo Avenue and Murray Canyon Drive around 4:30 p.m. near the Hope home on Southridge Drive, in an area with “very difficult access.”

No structures were threatened as of 5:30 p.m., according to the city’s Twitter page, nor had any evacuations or injuries been reported.

There was no word on what sparked the blaze.
