Fire damaged a home in Riverside Monday and displaced its two residents.
Firefighters responded to the 1900 block of Livingston Street, near the intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Chicago Avenue, about 6:30 p.m. and reported heavy smoke coming from the home’s attic, according to Battalion Chief Scott Wilson of the Riverside Fire Department.
Crews removed roofing tiles and pulled the drywall off the ceiling in order to extinguish the flames and a knockdown was called at 7 p.m., Wilson said.
Electricity and gas services to the home were turned off, forcing its two residents to stay with relatives in the area, Wilson said.
No injuries were reported.
The fire caused $70,000 in damage and the cause was under investigation.
