Temperatures will start heating up Tuesday throughout Riverside County as part of a heat wave that will bring blazing temperatures to the Coachella Valley heading into this weekend.

High pressure will continue to build over the southwestern United States this week and bring progressively warmer temperatures each day through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency issued an excessive heat watch that will be in effect from Thursday morning through Saturday evening in the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.

High temperatures Tuesday will be 112 degrees in the Coachella Valley, 103 in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, 99 in Hemet, 95 in Riverside, 96 in Lake Elsinore, 91 in Temecula and 88 in Idyllwild.

Highs in the Coachella Valley are forecast to reach 117 on Thursday, then 118 on Friday and Saturday, forecasters said. Temperatures in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning will top out at 108 on Friday.
