The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped two-tenths of a cent Sunday to $3.111 after rising by one-tenth of a cent each of the past two days.

The average price is two-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, three-tenths of a cent lower than one month ago and 48.1 cents cheaper than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped 39.7 cents since the start of the year.

Gasoline supply has increased despite a drop in production, which normally “would push down gasoline prices, but wholesale prices have not yet dropped much in response to the new (stay-at-home) orders,” according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
