A blaze that erupted Friday in a Hemet mobile home caused major damage to the structure but was stopped before spreading to adjacent residences.
The fire was reported about 12:40 p.m. in the Sun Valley Estates Mobile Home Park at Acacia and Palm avenues, according to the Hemet Fire Department.
The agency said multiple city engine crews, along with two engines from the Riverside County Fire Department, were sent to the location and encountered smoke pouring out of all sides of the doublewide.
Witnesses told 911 dispatchers that two occupants were trapped in the home, but a search confirmed that it was unoccupied, according to reports from the scene.
An ambulance was summoned to the fire, but it was unclear whether that was for precautionary reasons or because someone suffered smoke exposure. No one was transported to a hospital.
The blaze was knocked down at 1:05 p.m.
Gas Co. and SoCal Edison technicians were requested to make repairs to pipes and transmission lines damaged by the flames.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
