Halloween is around the corner and cool, crisp fall weather should be here, right?

Not in sunny Southern California.

The mercury will top out in the low 80s in downtown Los Angeles and other inland areas Wednesday through Friday, and the weekend should see the mercury climb to summer-like levels of 85.

Local beaches will be jammed this coming weekend with temperatures in the low 80s and sunny skies after highs through Friday in the mid 70s.

The National Weather Service forecast for Los Angeles and vicinity for Wednesday night said it will be clear in the evening with areas of low clouds and fog later. Lows in the lower to mid 60s.

The forecast for Thursday calls for low clouds and fog in the morning then sunny.

In Coastal Orange County the forecast for Wednesday calls for a partly cloudy in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny. Highs 78 to 83.

Wednesday night it will be partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. Patchy fog overnight. Lows around 62.

Thursday it will be mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs 76 to 81.

The ultraviolet index level in the Los Angeles area for Wednesday is a moderate 5, according to the weather service. A moderate exposure level of 5-6 indicates that a person with a fair complexion could be safe from sun burn for 10-12 minutes, unless protected.
