We’re in for a very cold weekend, but just give it a few days and we’ll be back to balmy Southern California sunny days in the mid-70s by Wednesday.
A cold air mass over Southern California will make for overnight lows in the 40s in most parts of the Southland. Some inland areas, including the western San Fernando Valley, could see the mercury dip to below freezing. Daytime highs are expected to be in the mid-60s with party sunny skies.
A freeze watch is in effect for the western portion of the San Fernando Valley, and a hard freeze is expected in the Antelope Valley.
The National Weather Service forecast for central Los Angeles from Malibu to Long Beach calls for partly cloudy conditions with highs in the 60s. It will be cold Saturday night, with lows in the 40s. Sunday will be a little warmer with highs in the mid 60s to 70.
However, the forecast for mid-week calls for highs of 76 downtown Los Angeles and even 72 at the beaches. Bu overnight lows will remain in the 40s through much of the week.
Coastal Orange County won’t be any warmer, with highs in the low 60s Saturday and temperatures dipping into the high 30s in some areas on Saturday night. It will be warmer on Sunday with highs around 65.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District predicted air quality will be in the good to moderate range in the South Coast Air Basin on Saturday.
