Heat advisories were in place through 8 p.m. Sunday in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys and the Santa Monica Mountains, with triple-digit temperatures in the forecast for another couple of days before some relief arrives Monday.
A heat advisory was also in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The high reached 106 degrees in Lancaster on Saturday, with the same number expected Sunday, the NWS said. Santa Clarita reached 101 on Saturday, with a forecast of 103 for Sunday. Van Nuys was 98 on Saturday, but was expected to hit 100 on Sunday.
Downtown Los Angeles reached 89 Saturday, with a high of 90 forecast for Sunday.
Elevated fire weather conditions were in place for the mountains and interior valleys through the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to drop by up to 5 degrees on Monday across most of the Southland, then another 1 to 2 degrees Tuesday through Thursday before heating up again next weekend.
