Lingering rain fell over Southern California Sunday morning, but dry and cool weather should prevail for most of the week with the exception of late Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters said.

Moderate to strong winds were predicted Sunday night and into Monday through the Interstate 5 corridor, according to the National Weather Service. Strong and gusty northwest winds were also expected in the L.A. County mountains to the eastern San Gabriels, as well as the Antelope Valley including the foothills.

Temperatures were 5 to 15 degrees below normal Sunday for this time of the year. Highs were in the 50s and lower 60s. Overnight lows will mostly be in the 40s and lower 50s throughout the week. In the high desert, temperatures will dip into the 20s and 30s Sunday night.

Forecasters said Saturday that up to 5 additional inches of snow could fall across the eastern San Gabriel Mountains above 5,000 feet, and they issued a winter storm warning that expired Sunday morning.

Wednesday’s rain is expected to be light, with totals most likely under 1 inch.
