The two were riding their bicycles about 9 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North Western Avenue. A a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and four men got out to confront them, said Cmdr. Jeff Smith of the Santa Ana Police Department.

The four men asked the bicyclists about their gang affiliation and one of the suspect pulled out a handgun to fire some shots at them, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Jose Gonzalez.

The four men returned to the dark-colored vehicle, which was last seen going north on Western Avenue, toward Seventh Street, Smith said.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. The other shooting victim suffered a graze wound and was still at an area hospital, he said.
