A business accelerator program focused on low-to-moderate income and diverse entrepreneurs, announced applications for the summer session.
Applications for “CONNECT ALL @ the Jacobs Center” (CAJC) will be accepted through March 6; CAJC officials urged applicants to apply in advance of the deadline.
CAJC is a strategic partnership between the city of San Diego, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation and CONNECT with the San Diego Venture Group.
The program opened in May 2019 in a 4,300-square-foot space at the Joe and Vi Jacobs Center in southeastern San Diego.
CAJC is geared specifically towards San Diego-based, early-stage startups. All components of the program are free to participants and no equity stake is required.
San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer said in a news release that CAJC provides “opportunity by encouraging entrepreneurs to build their businesses, hire more San Diegans and grow our city’s reputation for innovation.”
“San Diegans are some of the most creative and ingenious innovators in the world, and when we remove barriers to opportunity, we give everyone a chance to pursue their dreams,” he said.
Enrollees in the CAJC six-month program will have access to mentors, free co-working space, weekly workshops, opportunities to learn how to access capital, partner with other businesses in the program and the chance to hire employees.
Twenty-five local startups headed by people with various ethnic and racial backgrounds have completed the six-month program since its inception, according to CAJC.
