A Silver Alert was activated Friday in Los Angeles County for a 78-year-old woman who went missing in Venice.

Dollie Mclain, who sometimes becomes disoriented, was last seen Thursday about 6:15 p.m near Elkland Place and California Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

She is believed to be wearing a gray sweater, black pants and black shoes, and is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Authorities circulated a photo of Mclain and encouraged people to call 911 if they see her.

The Silver Alert program was established to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of elderly, developmentally disabled and cognitively impaired individuals, according to the CHP.
