A hiker was rescued Friday from a remote area near the San Jacinto Mountains in the unincorporated area of South Creek, south of Whitewater, authorities said.
The hiker was reported down around 1:16 p.m. Friday in an inaccessible area between Highway 111 and Snowcreek Canyon Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A Cal-Fire helicopter hoisted the hiker to a waiting ground ambulance, and the individual was taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.
The hiker sustained minor injuries and was expected to make a full recovery, authorities said.
