A 33-year-old man who gunned down a Wildomar resident and seriously wounded a woman in the victim’s home was sentenced Wednesday to 82 years to life in state prison.
David Rodolfo Jimenez Osornio of Wildomar pleaded guilty earlier this month to first-degree murder, attempted murder, child endangerment and sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations under a plea agreement with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. In exchange for his admissions, prosecutors dropped one count of making criminal threats, as well as several related enhancements, against Osornio.
During a hearing Wednesday at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta, Superior Court Judge F. Paul Dickerson certified the terms of the plea deal and imposed the stipulated sentence.
According to Sgt. Alberto Loureiro of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, shortly after 7 p.m. last Sept. 12, Osornio was involved in an unspecified confrontation with 64-year-old Jesus Monge at his residence in the 24000 block of Orange Street, near Lemon Street, just east of Interstate 15.
During the encounter, Osornio pulled a handgun and shot Monge. A 56-year-old woman, identified in court documents only as “E.C.,” was at the residence and was also shot by the defendant, Loureiro said.
Witnesses called 911, and patrol deputies and paramedics arrived minutes later, finding Monge dead and E.C. seriously wounded.
The child, identified only as a girl with the initials “A.C.,” was at the property but not struck by gunfire, according to court documents.
“Deputies located the suspect in the area and detained him,” Loureiro said.
E.C. was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment and has since recovered.
A possible motive for the attack was not provided, and there was no word regarding how the defendant and victims knew one another.
Osornio had no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
