Two people were injured and six displaced Tuesday morning when a fire broke out at a two-story garden style apartment building in Canoga Park Tuesday, prompting an arson investigation

Los Angeles Fire Department fire crews were called at 2:39 a.m. Tuesday to 20947 W. Bryant St. and Parthenia Street where they found flames on the first floor, said LAFD spokesperson Jamie Stewart.

Two patients were taken to a hospital out of a total of eight people assessed for injury, Stewart said.

The department’s Arson Section was called to launchan investigation of the fire.

It took 83 firefighters 28 minutes to extinguish the flames.

The incident commander requested the Department of Building and Safety and the Department of Water and Power to the scene to determine the safety of the structure.

A total of six people were displaced and the Red Cross was called to assist them with temporary housing.

An earlier report that two people had jumped from the building’s second floor turned out to be false, Stewart said.
