The ASPCA Thursday will donate 25 tons of pet food to Pasadena Humane, an organization that provides animal care and services in the greater Los Angeles area.

“In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pasadena Humane has expanded its community pet food bank, providing free cat and dog food and cat litter for residents throughout Los Angeles County struggling to feed their pets,” the organization said in a statement.

“Pasadena Humane has been able to expand its food bank beyond its animal care and control service cities thanks to a partnership with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which donated 50,000 lbs of food to support this effort,” the organization said.

“We have been the largest pet food bank distributor in the Los Angeles region since 2018,” said Dia DuVernet, President & CEO of Pasadena Humane.

“This generous donation from the ASPCA will help us to support even more families in the community experiencing food insecurity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” DuVernet said.

Since April, Pasadena Humane’ Pet Food Bank has provided more than 71,000 meals to pets in the community.
