The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority announced Thursday that a 2 1/2-month closure of Wheeler Avenue between Arrow Highway and Bonita Avenue for railroad work will begin Oct. 13.
The work, which is part of the 9.1-mile Foothill Gold Line light rail project from Glendora to Pomona, will require a full closure of the street to vehicles and pedestrians during that period, according to the Construction Authority.
Local access to homes and businesses on Wheeler Avenue within the closure area north and south of the railroad crossing will be maintained at all times, as well as access to Wheeler Park, Palomares Avenue and First, Second and Third streets.
Crews plan to work daily during double shift hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and overnight work and Sunday shifts may also be required, officials said.
A detour route will be in place during the closure and signage will be posted to direct motorists and pedestrians.
