Santa Claus will be visiting different neighborhoods in Murrieta to collect non-perishable food and new, unwrapped toys, the city of Murrieta announced Saturday.

Santa’s visits around Murrieta are scheduled this week from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Dec. 11 to 14.

Santa will spend time with kids at each stop and be available for photo opportunities while his holiday helpers pick up the canned goods and new, unwrapped toy donations.

All items collected during the Santa Stops events will be given to families who need a little extra help this holiday season, according to the city.

Santa Stops was made possible by dozens of volunteers filling in several roles to bring joy to families. The city gave special thanks to platinum sponsor Paradise Chevrolet Cadillac for their financial contributions.

“Murrieta is connected by community. We are happy to play a small part in ensuring that families in need also get to experience the holidays,” said Community Services Director Brian Ambrose.

Each stop will be marked with a sign that reads “Santa Stops Here.” Residents will know Santa is approaching their street because he will play “Here Comes Santa Claus” as he makes his way down.
