A brush fire that erupted Friday near a Metrolink train station in Jurupa Valley charred roughly four acres and prompted the closure of a road before it was stopped.
The non-injury “Pedley Fire” was reported at 3:28 p.m. Friday in the area of Pedley Road and 60th Street, in a field just east of the Jurupa Valley Metrolink Station, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate in the immediate vicinity of numerous homes.
Firefighters deployed for structure protection, as a Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter initiated drops on the brusher.
The fire’s forward rate of spread was halted at 4:15 p.m, and full containment was expected before 6 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies shut down Pedley between Limonite Avenue and 58th Street for public safety.
The Metrolink commuter trains and freight trains were not impacted by the blaze.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
