A brush fire that broke out Tuesday along the Santa Ana River bottom in Jurupa Valley scorched an acre before it was stopped.
The non-injury “Market Fire” was reported just after 10 a.m. in the area of Market and 24th streets, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate in medium brush near the Adams Motorsports racetrack.
Firefighters prevented the blaze from reaching any structures, and at 11:05 a.m., the forward rate of spread was stopped, according to officials at the scene.
Full containment was expected by noon.
The cause of the brusher was under investigation, but blazes throughout the Santa Ana River bottom are common year-round due to warming, cooking and debris fires ignited in homeless encampments, of which there are dozens in the dry channel, between Jurupa Valley and Riverside.
