Two women were hospitalized Wednesday following a hit- and-run collision in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
The women suffered moderate injuries when their Toyota Matrix was struck around 1:30 a.m. by a Toyota Camry that ran a red light at the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Hendley Hawkins.
The owner of the Camry was a backseat passenger at the time of the collision, Hawkins said. The driver was “an acquaintance” who ran from the vehicle after the accident and remained at large.
