A former volunteer pleaded guilty Tuesday to sex crimes involving six children at a Christian school in El Monte.
Johnny Beserra, 20, of El Monte, pleaded guilty to two counts of continuous sexual abuse and one count each of forcible oral copulation of a person under 14, committing a lewd act on a child, child molesting and possession of child pornography.
Beserra is set to be sentenced March 2 to 30 years to life in state prison and is expected to be ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Beserra was a volunteer at El Monte Christian Academy. The crimes occurred between August 2010 and May 2014 and involved six children who were between the ages of 7 and 17, with some occurring at the school, according to Deputy District Attorney Michael Matoba.
Beserra was arrested May 24 an has remained in jail since then.
