Detectives from the sheriff’s Palmdale Station asked Monday for the public’s help in locating whoever fired a bullet that struck a 3- year-old boy in the back while he was sleeping.

The toddler was asleep in a trailer in the 38000 block of 65th Street East when he was shot about 9:50 p.m. on Jan. 25, according to the sheriff’s department.

The boy’s injuries were not life-threatening, but detectives want to determine who fired the shots.

Detective Nelson Rios of the Palmdale Station, who said he does not know if the shooting was gang-related, asked anyone with information to call him at (661) 282-2466.
