Police who arrested two men in the parking lot of a Covina motel Monday said they found a sawed-off shotgun, body armor and a police scanner in the suspects’ vehicle.
Andy Arce, 25, of West Covina, and John Maldonado, 25, of La Puente were taken into custody about 2:15 a.m. and booked on suspicion of weapons possession, robbery and violating terms of a domestic violence restraining order, said Covina police Sgt. Gregg Peterson.
The location of the motel was not released.
Police seized a sawed-off shotgun, shotgun ammunition, a police scanner, body armor, gloves and a “pullover facial mask” that were found inside the vehicle, Peterson said.
“The two subjects had no lawful purpose for having these items,” he said.
The suspects were held on $100,000 bail each, pending arraignment expected Wednesday at the Citrus courthouse, Peterson said.
