A motorist who was fatally shot in South Los Angeles was identified Wednesday.
The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of East 45th Street around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. James Townsend.
The fatally wounded man was identified as Armondo Ortega, 26, of Los Angeles, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Townsend said the shooter left the passenger seat of a van in which he was riding, fired at Ortega, then got back in the van, which left the scene.
Ortega was driving an SUV, which plowed into a fence as he lost consciousness, Townsend said.
