The coroner’s office has released the name of the 35- year-old motorist who was killed when she made an unsafe lane change and triggered a three-vehicle crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in San Dimas, officials said.
She was Linda Vasquez of Temple City, said coroner’s Lt. David Smith.
The crash on the westbound freeway at North San Dimas Avenue occurred at 5:17 a.m., said Officer Alex Rubio of the California Highway Patrol.
Vasquez was driving a 2005 Scion XA when she made an unsafe lane change en route from the No. 1 to the No. 3 lane and struck a trailer attached to a 2004 Ford F-550, according to the CHP. That impact caused the Scion to spin out of control into the No. 4 lane and directly into the path of a 2002 Toyota Tacoma.
The Tacoma hit the right side of the Scion. Vasquez, the lone occupant in her car, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, according to the CHP.
A SigAlert issued at 5:49 a.m., closing the two, three, four and five lanes of the freeway was cancelled at 9:24 a.m., Rubio said.
The CHP’s Baldwin Park office asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (626) 338-1164.
