A fire broke out Friday afternoon in a service room in a high-rise hotel in downtown Los Angeles, but firefighters quickly knocked it down and no one was injured, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 4:35 p.m. at the L.A. Hotel Downtown at 333 S. Figueroa St.

Nearly three dozen firefighters knocked down the flames in 12 minutes, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
