Authorities Tuesday were investigating the death of two people in their 80s who were inside a motor home that hit a fence, clipped a fire hydrant and smashed along a side wall bordering the Browns Canyon Wash flood control channel in Canoga Park.
The incident was reported to officials at 3:21 p.m. Monday at 8433 DeSoto Avenue, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters successfully kept the “precariously perched” motor home from teetering over the wall overlooking the wash, Humphrey told City News Service.
Northbound lanes on DeSoto Avenue were shut down as officials handled the crash site, he added.
Power lines might also have fallen in the crash, and firefighters were handling a spill of diesel fuel from the RV, Humphrey said.
There was no immediate word of the cause of the crash.
