Homicide detectives searched a Carson home Thursday after receiving a tip last week that a man’s body is buried at the location, but a body was not found.
Homicide detectives went to the 21600 block of Prospect Avenue, near East Carson Street, about 7:45 a.m., according to Deputy Grace Medrano of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
A search warrant was served at the home and “biological evidence” was recovered inside the home, Medrano said.
Cadaver dogs also “alerted personnel to the scent of human remains in decomposition inside of the residence and the front yard area, however, a dead body was not found,” Medrano said.
Detectives received credible information that a body could be buried on the premises, according to the sheriff’s department.
Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza told reporters at the scene that detectives received the information during the course of a homicide investigation.
“We have information that there’s a body buried at the residence,” Mendoza said. “And what we’re doing now, is we’re armed with a search warrant … and we’re here with (the) crime lab and the coroner’s office, and just trying to seek any evidence of a dead body.”
Mendoza said investigators would attempt to link the recovered biological evidence to someone, be they dead or alive.
At least one person lives at the home and is in the process of being evicted, according to Mendoza.
The home is known for gang-related activity, investigators at the scene said.
