A 44-year-old man who allegedly punched a woman outside a Venice store in a video-recorded argument over a homeless man was in custody Thursday.
Michael Fino turned himself in after third party video of the Sept. 25 attack was circulated, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Fino was booked on suspicion of felony battery on Tuesday, according to Officer Tony Im of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.
The assault occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 near the intersection of Pacific and Winward avenues where the man was seen punching the woman during an argument, according to Sgt. Gregory Probst with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division.
The assault stemmed from an earlier argument between the two strangers, Probst said.
The man was speaking to a homeless man and the woman intervened, telling him to leave the homeless man alone, Probst said. The two later ran into each other in the store and the assault occurred outside of it.
