Torrance shooting victim dies of injuries; LAPD seeks clues

Los Angeles police detectives asked for the public’s help Friday to find whomever gunned down a 40-year-old man and wounded a second person in the Torrance area.

The shooting took place in the 1500 block of West Carson Street at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, said LAPD spokesman Officer Drake Madison. Arriving officers found one man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and a second man with a gunshot wound to his arm, Madison said.

Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. The 40-year-old who was shot in the chest died there from his injuries, Madison continued. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Even though the double-shooting took place in Torrance, Madison said the LAPD covers that portion of the city near the Harbor Gateway area.
