Authorities Friday released video footage of a fatal crash in South Los Angeles in hopes the public will be able to identify the hit-and-run motorist.

Mario Enrique Cortez-Cua, 29, was crossing eastbound on Normandie Avenue, south of 67th Street, about 11:30 p.m. on April 28 when he was struck by a speeding, newer model blue four-door Volkswagen Jetta with paper plates, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The Jetta then stopped after hitting Cortez-Cua and a black woman got out the car, walked to the victim and began saying “Oh my God. Oh my God,” police said.

She then got back into her car and sped away, failing to render aid to Cortez-Cua, police said.

Paramedics found him dead at the scene, police said.

The LAPD’s South Traffic Division asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call it at (323) 421-2500.
