Hundreds of people will ride in honor of Coachella Valley military veterans Saturday during a pair of events that organizers expect will raise thousands for local disabled and active veterans.
The fourth annual Salute to the Veterans Run departs at 10 a.m. from Palm Springs Harley Davidson and ends at Palm Desert Civic Center Park. Participation is open to the general public, including motorcyclists, hot rod riders and more.
The American Legion Riders say the annual ride has raised $27,000 over the past three years, with $10,000 set to be donated this year to local veterans.
The ride’s conclusion in Palm Desert is the site of a Patriot Weekend event, which will include its own Patriot Ride cycling event and Honor Walk supporting veterans, active military, police officers and firefighters, as well as a motorcycle rodeo, beer garden, raffle, live entertainment, vendor expo and a flyover from Palm Springs Air Museum pilots.
Prospective riders can register for the Veterans Run at www.cvdv.org or the Patriot Ride on site at Palm Desert Civic Center Park beginning at 6 a.m.
