Seven Pomona marijuana dispensaries that were allegedly operating illegally have shut down, police said Thursday.

Beginning Monday, warrants were served at the dispensaries by Pomona police and the state Department of Tax Fee Administration, officials said.

Marijuana sales are not permitted in Pomona, according to the Pomona Police Department.

“These dispensaries had been operating illegally within the city … for several weeks,” Pomona police Cpl. Thomas De La Vega said.

City code enforcement officers contacted the property owners, who “consistently refused to comply with the city’s request to cease all illegal activity,” De La Vega said.

Alleged violations included operating without a business license, the unlicensed sale of tobacco products and the failure to file a quarterly tax return, the corporal said.

Teams recovered more than 500 ecstasy pills, 45 pounds of pot, a firearm and about $32,000 in cash, De La Vega said.

“These investigations are sensitive and all efforts to gain compliance are exhausted before police action is taken,” he said.

No arrests were made, but police continue to investigate, De La Vega said.

The dispensaries were located at:

–1305 W. Holt Ave.;

–1015 W. Mission Blvd.;

–1528 W. Mission Blvd.

–1135 S. Garey Ave.;

–1627 N. Garey Ave.;

–2380 N. Garey Ave.; and

–2445 N. Garey Ave.
