A multi-million dollar home near the Playboy Mansion in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles was burglarized and police searched Friday morning for the thieves who made off with a half-ton safe that contained $300,000 in cash and jewelry.

Officers responded at 9:20 p.m. Thursday to a burglary call at a home in the 500 block of Mapleton Drive and searched for the suspects but were unable to locate anyone, according to Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

A housekeeper heard someone inside the home and saw thieves ransacking the home and she called police, ABC7 reported.

The crooks used a vehicle to ram through a gate on the property and stole the safe from the second floor of the home, ABC7 said. The safe contained cash and jewelry worth a combined $300,000, the station said.

A description of the suspects was not immediately available.
